I went to Vancouver this weekend with a couple of college friends, and it was a blast. It was a weekend full of laughter, good food, and good views. My parents told me that I had been to Vancouver as a kid, but I honestly don’t remember being there. So I would say…this was my first time going 🙂
This will be part 1 of 2 blog posts I have for my time in Vancouver. I had been working on a blog post about almost leaving engineering for medicine before my trip to Vancouver, but I didn’t finish it before I went on my trip. So that’s why I’m writing this mini post – to be consistent in writing and publishing. That engineering post will be out soon so be on the look out for that!
I also filmed a lot of the trip on my go pro so I’ll be publishing a little video! Be on the lookout for that as well 🙂
I just wanted to briefly share that I felt like I didn’t deserve to be on this trip. I remember going to the airport feeling like I should have been back home studying and working on my blog instead of going to have fun. You know – the work hard – play hard mindset.
But I told myself – “I’m already here at the airport. I may not have a new job yet, but I know I’ve been working hard to get one. So let’s just focus on having a good time”.
So I did just that. I had a great time.
When I got back home, I was reminded how much better a break feels when you’ve worked hard for it. Work hard and play hard.
I was also reminded of how working hard also allows us to play hard. As we get older, time becomes more of a luxury for you and your friends. How we spend it becomes more precious.
For myself and my friends, living in different places and working hard jobs, money gives us the opportunity to reconnect and have fun. We shouldn’t forget to take breaks and enjoy life along the way. Play makes the journey of life manageable.
